It costs twice for air travel from SFO to Toronto compare with SFO to
Buffalo.

What is a good way to fly into Buffalo and take the round trip ground travel
from Buffalo to Toronto? Any regularly scheduled convenient bus or rail or
boat? What is the round trip cost?

Thank you.

wow, you guys are talking about exactly what came to mind this morning
for me... flights to LAX and Vegas are cheap to Pearson, but $500 is
what i'm looking at. I'm looking at less than $200 after taxes if I'm
flexible and pick the right trip.

Not going through Customs at the airport is a bonus, how's that? I
always found customs at the land borders on a Greyhound to be the most
obnoxious. Seeing as how there are so many more inadmissable travellers
on a Greyhound (anyone can buy a ticket really), and in Canada there is
no prescreening to enter the US, although on my last trip I had to add
my name to a roaster, just like a flight manifest would be like.

But as I say, there's always someone with a piece of fruit they're
taking to the US that holds the bus, or some guy doing something weird
(like the guy who bussed from Florida to Toronto, then Toronto to San
Diego... they thought he was up to something, and the was an American
Citizen...) On the last bus into Canada, we were held up unnecessarily
for 30 minutes. I took up 10 of those minutes waiting for customs to
issue me a goods to follow receipt for the stuff I mailed back, and the
next 20 minutes after I got back on the bus was because Immigration
raked a guy over the coals for going to meet his Internet Girlfriend in
Toronto.

Never plan to arrive on the other side of the border on time... I took
a bus from Toronto to Chicago but decided to go a little early and wait
for a couple of hours in Detroit. That bus I was supposed to be on
never made it, I boarded a new bus they started in Detroit, and those
guys were still at customs when we departed Detroit an hour late (after
waiting for them.) I was talking to a guy waiting for his girlfriend to
arrive off that bus, and he was still there when I boarded for Chicago,
and I overheard drivers talking about how the status of that bus was
unknown, but they were at custom for 1 1/2 hours. Further to that, a
customer at my store was on a regular Greyhound and one passenger was
caught with drugs. Everyone was then submitted to swap tests for
residue on their hands or wallets, etc.

So fun stuff can happen, even if you're the good guy on the bus... For
what it's worth, the most I've suffered through were delays, and no
matter how hard they were on me, they were always raking someone else
over the coals twice as hard, and for twice as long... it's not always
that bad, just have a return ticket if you're not a dual citizen.

Take the bus from Toronto to Buffalo then the Buffalo metro bus to the
airport.

And it IS worth it. We fly from Buffalo a lot instead of from Pearson.
AND you do not go through customs at the airport - a big bonus!

If you have a car it is very cheap $6/day or so at the Buffalo airport.
If you need to stay overnight in Buffalo before your flight most hotels
have a great SleepnPark deal that gives you 14 days of free parking.

I mean by car it has been fast and easy - never been by bus. But I see
what you mean that on a bus it is a problem, too.

I just booked two trips for 2007 (1)Kona Hawaii and (2)San Jose
California from Buffalo and will be saving about $400 PER TICKET flying
out of Buffalo. The negative side of that is there are few direct
flights out of Buffalo - most hop to Chicago, Atlanta, etc. But the
discount in cost is substantial for a family.

I found my cheap flights by searching with sidestep.com and cheaptickets.com

That would defeat the purpose of flying to Buffalo to save money.
