Itinerary #2 is a l-o-o-n-g distance to cover, and has very long drives
between traditional sorts of "visitor attractions". If you want 2 weeks
of "empty wilderness", then do try it. Of course, the wilderness isn't
"empty" at all, but there aren't many art galleries, theatres or golf
courses either. I have been to all of those places, and the scenery is
both exciting and restful. If you enjoy hiking, camping, photography
and bird-watching, then do go North. A word of caution: some of the
mosquitoes are as big as European birds, so bring a guidebook! And
maybe a lupara, too ...
