There doesn't have to be a sale for it to kick in. Just moving into
the state. And there are additional titling fees.

.... and Canadian Customs, it is their responsibility to prove the vehicle is
free of any liens before it is even allowed to go to the US for an
'extended' period. If the vehicle does have a lien, taking to vehicle out of
the country for an 'extended' period may be prohibited without seeking
permission from the lender.

Have you ever used a snowbird driveaway service? Many snowbirds have
their car driven to and from Florida so they can just fly down and
back as you wish to do. We will pick you car up right at your door
and pick you up at your airport of arrival. Can we be of service?

My parents are snowbirds and left a canadian car in FL for years.
Just remember you still have to renew your Canadian license plates and
ownerships as well as insurance.
