work and travel advice for canada

Hi

I am a Uk citizen living in the UK, I would like to travel and see the
world and would like to visit canada, in order to travel around, and
work in order to fund my travels

I am aware that I need a work visa for this, however I am confident
that this is possible, I know I can do volunteer work but if I go that
route I would like to know if any of the volunteer organisations pay a
stipend to cover basic expenses, etc,

I would also like some contacts who can help with this. I feel it
should be easier to work / travel through commonwealth countries, and
feel that this would be a great way to see the country and at teh same
time put something back through volunteer work.

If anyone can offer help / advice I would be very grateful, In the mean
time I will look into raising money for such a venture.

I know there are lots of volunteer oppprtunities, perhaps I could
arrage a number of paid jobs and travel across the country doing
different things even if it's for a few weeks, to raise funds for the
next leg of my journey.
