I think it's more like the Baht going back to its real value. I don't
have historical data, but I suspect that the Baht is still recovering
from the 1998 crisis.

What do you mean by "the rate"? If it's not what is shown here
http://www.scb.co.th/html/exchange/bk-txtexchange.htm, then what do you
mean?
(Above URL shows that 1 Euro buys about 48...49 Baht)

As the above link indicates, Siam Commercial Bank are today selling
Euros notes at 49.73125 Baht to the Euro, and buying them at 48.6925.
Bangkok Bank's rates today are 49.65 and 48.61.
http://www.bangkokbank.com/Bangkok+Bank/Personal+Banking/Foreign+Excha.../FX+Rat
Where did you get this 44 Baht "asking rate" from?

The crisis may affect to investments but I don't know whether it does so for
the external value of baht. However, the euro was strong. Something like
1:50 or 1:48 most the fiscal years of 2004 and 2005. Now it has hovered
somewhere 1:43 or 1:44.
In Jakarta I saw lots of high rise skeletons in the year 2002. I guess they
are victims of that crisis. >> Stay informed about: The world is expensive for Americans |

About any generic engine compiles them: Oanda, XE and so on. It seems that
banks sell baht as cash by more favourable rates. Big reserves and low
demand? >> Stay informed about: The world is expensive for Americans |
