I heard somewhere that in the late '60s they, after some years of
declining water levels, experts said Lake Mead was going to go dry by
around 1980. Well, that didn't happen. I tend to believe weather is
a cyclical thing. About 8-9 years ago, we had some very mild winters
up here, where it hardly ever fell under 20 degrees, and the daytime
temps were around 30-40 degrees just about everyday; pretty warm for
Jan. & Feb. I didn't think it was too bad, that maybe there was
something to global warming. Well, this winter has been one cold
mother, one of the coldest since I've moved back to Bismarck, many sub-
zero days. A couple years ago, we had drought. Then last June & the
summer before, record rainfall. In the late '80's, we had terrible
droughts. In the early 90's, good rainfall. I think it just goes in
cycles. People tend to remember the extremes & that's when the
doomsday folks come out of the woodwork.
Back in the 70's scientists thought for sure we were heading toward an
ice age. Now it's global warming. Then a couple months ago on the
radio I heard a scientist on "Coast To Coast AM" saying we are on the
dawn of an ice age. Keep in mind, he was on "Coast To Coast AM".

An ice age where vampires and shadow people rise from Atlantis to
enslave us all, while the government disappears into its vast
labyrinth of underground cities.
I love Coast to Coast.

I don't know where I heard that or if I heard it, but it doesn't sound
correct.
Based on the stats back then, Lake Mead was running pretty low in the
mid '60's, but it did rise over 1000 ft. by 1980. Of course, the
population was a lot less back then.

If I were 9 years old listening to that show it would freak the hell
out of me.
I really liked the guy who was on a few years ago who said NASA has
people on the payroll whose only job is to airbrush out the alien
cities in photos of the moon & other planets.

Correction: Lake Mead rose over 100 ft. from 1965 to 1980.

Global warming comes from the fact that the AVERAGE temperture of the earth
is rising. This data goes back years and takes in account that there's going
to be years when it's colder than the avg and years when it's warmer than
the avg.

I didn't say I didn't believe in global warming. I just don't think
it's as gloomy & doomy as many are making it out to be & I'm not sure
it's all man made. If it is all man made, nothing can be done unless
China, India, Mexico, and all those other countries with no emissions
standards are taken to task to clean up. We only have temperature data
going back 200 years or so, so no one can say for sure if the earth is
warmer than it's ever been or if it's just part of a huge,
hundreds-years weather cycle.
It's just hard to buy global warming sometimes when it's -15 in the
morning when I go out to start my car.

Could it be the fact that the worldwide population is increasing so
there are a lot more 98.6's running around. The reason rooms get
warmer with more people is ue to them exhaling all that hot air. >> Stay informed about: Something else to worry about |
